I am delighted to be able to welcome you to St John’s Great Horton. We have a very informal approach to worship and a warm welcome for all, young or old. We believe that church should be a real encounter with God, but that can include having fun together as well as being serious. We believe the Bible to be God’s Word to bring us life, and we are open to the Holy Spirit’s power to help us live the life.
Details of our Sunday services and can be found elsewhere in this website, but Church does not just take place on a Sunday. We would love to introduce you to one of our midweek small groups where there is an opportunity to develop deeper friendships as well as study the Bible, pray together and support one another.
For those with young children, we have a very wide-ranging under-fives programme throughout the week, including a full-time nursery and various toddler groups. We also host a lunch club, men’s evenings, various small bible study groups and “Captivated”, our monthly women’s breakfast.
We believe that church should be connected to the past, but absolutely relevant to the way we live our lives today. The Bible tells us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow” and so we long for all people to know the blessing of following Jesus. In response to his command to love our neighbour, we seek to serve our parish community and especially to extend the love of God to those in need.
We would be delighted if you wanted to join us, and hope you will quickly feel part of the church family. However, do contact us if there is anything further you would like to know, or any way in which we can help you.
With every blessing in Jesus’ name,
John Bavington
